Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE), reported this Monday that it maintains 08 provinces on yellow alert and 1 and the National District on green, due to Hurricane Erin, which remains as category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson scale, with estimated sustained maximum winds of 220 km/h.
In a press conference, Juan Manuel Méndez, director of the organization, said that the provinces in yellow are La Altagracia, Hato Mayor, María Trinidad Sánchez, Montecristi, El Seibo, Samaná, Espaillat and Puerto Plata; Santo Domingo and the National District remain in green.
Regarding maritime conditions, they indicated that all vessels must remain in port due to wind, abnormal waves, and reduced visibility.

“It is important that the population continues to strictly follow the Indomet weather report and the information provided by the COE,” concluded Méndez.
The National Institute of Meteorology reports that Hurricane Erin will continue to move away from the Dominican Republic, however, its indirect effects will continue to generate abnormal waves on the Atlantic coast. In addition, from early morning hours and during the morning, cloud bands associated with Erin will maintain favorable atmospheric conditions for the development of clouds with moderate to heavy showers, electrical storms and frequent gusts of wind, mainly towards the Atlantic coast and the southeast and southwest regions.
This precipitation activity will extend towards locations in the Central Mountain Range and the border area, during the afternoon until the early hours of the night.
