Bonao.- President Luis Abinader, accompanied by the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, inaugurated this Saturday the Padre José Salvador Fernández High School, in the municipal district of Sabana del Puerto, a work that will benefit more than 800 secondary school students.
The new educational infrastructure, equipped with 24 standard classrooms, two for initial level and two adapted for students with disabilities, is part of the school expansion and improvement program promoted by the Government. It also has a library, infirmary, teachers’ lounge and guidance office, designed to promote an inclusive and quality educational environment.
During the event, Minister De Camps reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to education as a national priority, highlighting initiatives such as the “Mesa de los Cinco Pilares” (Table of the Five Pillars), which promotes the active participation of the educational community in improving the system.
The center’s director, Narcisa Almonte, valued the work as a long-awaited achievement by the community, and assured that the teaching staff will work with a focus on quality, responsibility, and the integral education of the students.
For his part, student Emil González thanked the authorities for the delivery of the high school, highlighting that it represents an investment in the future and in equity for the young people in the area.
The ceremony included a blessing by the priest Fausto Antonio García Rodríguez, as well as the participation of local and community authorities, and legislators from the province. Prior to the event, President Abinader and the minister shared lunch with students from the area.
