Independence Senator regrets finding of beheaded women in Elías Piña and calls for thorough investigation

Santo Domingo.– The senator of the Independencia province, Dagoberto Adames, called for prudence and to await the official version of the authorities regarding the discovery of at least five decapitated female corpses in the community of Macasías, Elías Piña province, events that have generated consternation and alarm in the population.

Adames categorically rejected any act of violence of this magnitude and maintained that, although on social media and in public comments some people have attributed the events to alleged Haitian gangs, there is no official report to date that confirms or denies that version.

“The right thing to do is to wait for the authorities to confirm, reaffirm, or deny that information that is circulating,” the legislator expressed, while describing the situation as regrettable and unacceptable, regardless of the nationality of those responsible.

The senator emphasized that events like these should not occur either in the Dominican Republic or in any other country, and reiterated that it cannot be tolerated that people are found murdered in such a violent manner on Dominican territory. According to preliminary information, the findings would have occurred in an approximate period of one month, between December 2025 and January 2026, during which several bodies were found inside the river and in nearby areas of the aforementioned border community. Adames insisted that it is exclusively up to the authorities to offer precise details about what happened, when it happened, and how it happened, as well as to establish responsibilities as the investigation progresses.

“The authorities have the last word,” the senator concluded.

The discovery has sown fear among the residents of the border area, who have chosen to avoid approaching the river that divides the Dominican Republic and Haiti due to fear.
