Julio César Landrón is appointed executive director of the National Health Service

Santo Domingo.– The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, appointed Dr. Julio César Landrón de la Rosa as the new Executive Director of the National Health Service (SNS) through Decree 6-26, replacing Mario Lama, who resigned from the position.

Landrón de la Rosa is an orthopedic and trauma surgeon with extensive experience in the health sector. He holds a master’s degree in public health, a diploma in senior health management and another in business management in health, as well as experience in hospital administration.

Before his new appointment, Dr. Landrón served as director of the Dr. Ney Arias Lora Traumatology Hospital, one of the main specialized care centers in the country, where he has led modernization and service improvement processes within the public network. His profile also includes roles such as provincial health director in the Sánchez Ramírez province, professor and head of residents at the Dr. Darío Contreras Hospital, as well as representative positions in specialized medical societies, both national and international. The appointment of Landrón de la Rosa occurs at a time when the SNS is working on consolidating a more integrated public health network and preparing to face healthcare challenges, such as the hospital medical services that the official network will provide during the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, in which the SNS was selected as the official medical provider.
