Santo Domingo.- Lawyer Laura Acosta, a member of the defense team for former Minister of Public Works and former presidential candidate Gonzalo Castillo, stated that the Dominican Republic’s justice system is going through a complex scenario marked by difficulties that affect the various actors in the judicial process.
Acosta maintained that exercising any role within the system has become a complex task, and clarified that these difficulties are not due to personal factors of comfort or convenience, but rather to structural problems that, in his view, have been worsening over time.

The jurist explained during an interview on a media program that this situation becomes even more delicate in high-profile cases, where, in her view, power factors can influence the reduction of the guarantees and rights of the parties involved in judicial proceedings.
His statements were made in the context of proceedings of great public relevance in which he is participating as part of the technical defense of the former official.
