San Francisco de Macorís.– A mother made a call for help to the community and the authorities due to the difficult situation she is facing with her two children, who suffer from addiction problems, while one of them also has diagnosed mental health disorders.
The woman explained that, for approximately four years, her children, aged 24 and 22, have been facing problems related to substance use, a situation that has affected the family’s stability and the household’s finances.
According to the report, one of the young men was diagnosed with acute and transient psychotic disorders, a condition for which he was admitted to the Psychiatry department of the San Vicente de Paúl Regional University Hospital, in San Francisco de Macorís, on January 24, 2023, according to a medical certificate issued by the health center.
“I need help for my home and for my children. I don’t have the resources to provide them with the care they need and I hope someone can lend us a hand,” the woman expressed.
In addition to her children’s health situation, the mother reported that she lost her home in a fire that occurred more than three years ago. Since then, she has not received any help to rebuild it, so she currently resides in a sister’s home due to a lack of financial resources and a place of her own to live.
