Santo Domingo. – The economist Eglenin Morrison Amador, president of the Partido Camino Nuevo, announced this Wednesday the official nomination of the deputy Omar Fernández as presidential candidate for the 2028 elections.
In turn, he highlighted through his statements to the newspaper “De Ultimo Minuto” that the decision was made by the political committee of the organization, through resolution 01-2025, as a commitment to generational renewal and the hope of the electorate.
“This moment reflects a generational break and a renewal of hope. Omar Fernández represents simplicity, historical sense, and humility,” expressed the political leader.

The Camino Nuevo Party, which will participate on the ballot with the number 34, plans to hold the proclamation event at the Palacio de los Deportes, with the confirmed attendance of at least 10,000 young people from different parts of the country.
Morrison recalled that more than 100,000 citizens supported with their signatures the party’s request for recognition before the Central Electoral Board, as an expression of disenchantment with traditional politics.
“This platform arises from the feeling of disappointment and disaffection shown by the citizenry in the past elections,” he pointed out.
The leader also reported that, according to an internal survey, 86% of those consulted stated that they would vote for Omar Fernández if he ran for president.
Finally, he called on the population to join the project. “We want to visit every municipality, knock on the doors of the country, and bring this proposal that is generating enthusiasm, not only among the youth, but also among women, entrepreneurs, teachers, and various sectors of society,” he added.
