Santiago.- Agents of the National Police arrested a man in the La Piña sector, in the Cienfuegos municipal district, accused of allegedly committing sexual assault, robbery, and making threats against a woman during an incident that occurred on January 1, 2025, the law enforcement institution reported this Tuesday.
The detainee was identified as Frailin José Fernández Rodríguez, alias “Caquito”, 25 years old, who was wanted under arrest warrant No. 2025-AJ0009946, issued by judicial authorities following the complaint filed by the victim.
According to the police report, the incident occurred in the morning hours, when the accused allegedly entered the complainant’s home while she was alone. Once inside, he reportedly sexually assaulted her, threatened her, and robbed her of cash and other belongings before fleeing the scene.
The arrest occurred following intelligence, investigation, and surveillance work carried out by police agents, who managed to locate the suspect in the La Piña sector, where he was apprehended without any incidents reported.

The spokesperson for the Cibao Central Regional Directorate of the National Police, Fiordaliza Popa Arias, reported that the detainee will be placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry for the corresponding legal measures to be taken.
The authorities indicated that investigations are continuing with the purpose of clarifying all the details of the case and strengthening the judicial file.
With this arrest, the Police claim to have responded to a complaint that had been under investigation since the beginning of 2025, allowing the case to advance to the judicial phase.
