Barahona.– The National Police dismantled several collection centers in the Barahona province, where they seized dozens of kilograms of copper, iron, and aluminum, as well as metal gates and other structures allegedly stolen. During the operations, carried out in coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, several people were also detained for investigation purposes.
The raids were executed with the support of the Rapid Action Unit as part of the actions aimed at combating the theft of public and private property, as well as the purchase and commercialization of materials of illicit origin.
The authorities reported that the detainees are being investigated to establish their possible connection to the seized items and determine their origin.

The National Police indicated that these interventions are part of the strategy to dismantle networks dedicated to the theft and illegal commercialization of metals, an activity that generates economic losses and affects public infrastructure, companies, and private property.
