Brito reveals PLD's "female formula": Margarita, Nahiony and Zoraima would lead key ballots

SANTO DOMINGO – Lawyer and political analyst José Martínez Brito shook up the electoral landscape during his appearance on the program “Esto No es Radio Show”, by revealing the names of the three women who, according to his information, will assume the most strategic candidacies of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) for the upcoming elections.

Brito was emphatic in pointing out that the positions for the two most relevant mayoralties in the country, as well as the proposal for the vice presidency of the Republic, already have defined names within the political organization.

According to the communicator’s statements, the structure of the candidacies would be formed as follows:

Margarita Cedeño: The former Vice President of the Republic would run as a candidate for the Mayoralty of the National District, one of the most contested political seats in the country.
Nahiony Reyes: The renowned communicator and wife of former mayor Abel Martínez would be the party’s choice to seek the Mayoralty of Santiago.
Zoraima Cuello: Martínez Brito stated that Cuello is defined as the candidate for the vice presidency for the PLD.

Political and technical strategy

When analyzing these possible designations, Brito highlighted the importance of balancing the candidates’ profiles.

“The candidacy for the mayoralty of the National District in the Dominican Liberation Party is clear. Margarita Cedeño. The mayoralty of Santiago has a name, Nahiony. And the vice presidency of the PLD has a name. Zoraima,” he stated during the program.

Regarding the formation of the presidential ticket, the analyst suggested that the choice of Zoraima Cuello responds to a strategic need. Referring to a possible presidential aspiration of Gonzalo Castillo, Brito stressed that “a political animal must have a technician by their side,” thus validating Cuello’s professional and technical profile to accompany the electoral proposal.

With these revelations, the PLD seems to be betting on strong female leadership to reconquer the main municipal seats and strengthen its offer for the presidency.
