Santo Domingo.- A Dominican Republic court set the preliminary hearing for next January 12 against the brothers Antonio and Maribel Espaillat, owners of the Jet Set nightclub, and will be in charge of the First Instruction Court of the National District. The date was set a week after the Public Ministry filed formal charges and requested the opening of the trial against the Espaillat brothers, who incurred involuntary manslaughter and involuntary blows and injuries, according to the prosecution body. Antonio and Maribel Espaillat were arrested last June but a few days later they were released on parole. According to the Public Prosecutor’s investigation, for years Jet Set “operated with systematic and serious negligence in the maintenance and structural adaptation of its facilities, putting the lives of its clients and employees at risk”.
