Santo Domingo,.- The Dominican Republic recorded 29 deaths in traffic accidents during the Christmas and New Year holidays, 31% less than in 2024, reported this Friday the Emergency Operations Center (COE). In total, 245 traffic accidents occurred, affecting 307 people, according to the organization, which launched a large-scale operation for these dates with the aim of preventing incidents and traffic accidents, one of the main causes of death in this country.

The agency also reported alcohol poisoning in 476 people, including 52 minors aged between 11 and 17 years old. By the way, the National Health Service (SNS) reported this Friday that it sent to the Attorney General’s Office and the Ministry of Public Health the list with the names of minors assisted in hospital emergencies due to alcohol poisoning during the holidays, so that the corresponding measures are taken. According to COE data, 7.6 million people traveled on the country’s roads during the Christmas holidays.
