Residents call for greater road safety in the face of the wave of accidents in the area

Haina.- A motorcyclist was seriously injured after being struck by a truck loaded with sand that was allegedly traveling at high speed on the Quita Sueño highway, in the municipality of Haina, San Cristóbal province.

According to information provided by members of the Fire Department present at the scene, after hitting the motorcyclist, the truck ended up crashing into one of the columns of the pedestrian bridge located on that section of the road.

So far, the authorities have not revealed the identity of the injured person and according to the data, he lost a leg and one of his arms, remaining in critical condition.

The incident has generated concern among the residents of Quita Sueño, who denounced the frequency with which traffic accidents occur on the highway and demanded that the authorities implement measures that contribute to improving road safety.

Community members state that the transit of heavy vehicles at high speed represents a constant danger for those traveling through the area.

This Friday, at least four traffic accidents were reported on that same road. One of them occurred in the section known as the Bajada de Yoya, where a truck loaded with sand struck an electrical utility pole while descending the road.

The incident has left the road impassable, causing significant traffic congestion and reinforcing the residents’ call for actions to be taken to reduce the risk of future accidents.
