Santo Domingo.- The Executive Directorate of National Irrigation Technification (TNR) and the National Confederation of Agricultural Producers (Confenagro) signed a collaboration agreement aimed at strengthening the development of the agricultural sector through the training of producers and the incorporation of new technologies.
The alliance aims to promote more efficient and sustainable agriculture, with a special emphasis on the rational use of water and the implementation of technified irrigation systems. It was signed by Claudio Caamaño Vélez, director of the TNR, and Wilfredo Cabrera, president of Confenagro.
During the activity, Caamaño Vélez highlighted that the agreement will contribute to the modernization of the Dominican countryside through coordinated actions of training, technical assistance, and knowledge transfer. He indicated that these initiatives will allow for strengthening the capabilities of agricultural producers and improving the performance of their productive units.
Likewise, he explained that the adoption of innovative technologies will help increase agricultural productivity, reduce environmental impacts, and strengthen national food security.

Meanwhile, Wilfredo Cabrera, president of Confenagro, described the event as important for the Dominican agricultural sector, since the signing of this alliance is a firm step towards a more modern, efficient and prepared agriculture to face the challenges of the present and the future.
“This agreement will allow thousands of producers to have access to training, technical assistance, information, and opportunities to incorporate technologies that increase the productivity of their farms and improve their competitiveness,” he said.
As part of the established commitments, the TNR will offer technical support to producers linked to Confenagro to facilitate the implementation of more efficient irrigation technologies.

Among the planned initiatives is the evaluation of support for innovation projects through the Bagri-Riego program and the subsidies aimed at encouraging the adoption of high-tech irrigation systems.
Meanwhile, Confenagro will announce through its channels, within the framework of this agreement, to the beneficiary communities and agricultural producers, the training programs and general information that will be carried out in conjunction with the TNR and Bagri-Riego, such as the efficient and rational use of water through the application of innovative irrigation system technologies, which contribute to the development and strengthening of the agricultural producer sector in the Dominican Republic.
Present at the signing of the agreement, for Confenagro were: Eric Rivero, vice president of this institution and agricultural advisor to the Executive Branch; Franiel Genao, executive director, and Carlos Mena, secretary, while for the TNR: Eriberto Tejada, head of the Extension and Training Division; Jorge Soto, head of Operations; Antonio Cabrera, head of Legal; Pablo Grimaldi, administrative head, and Taylor Santana, of the Irrigation Division, among others.
