Santo Domingo, DR.– Agents of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), in coordination with the Public Ministry and under the direction of the Joint Task Force (FTC), carried out a large-scale operation against the trafficking of controlled substances in different sectors of Pedro Brand and nearby areas, where five people were arrested and more than 4,700 grams of presumably narcotic substances were seized.
During the deployment, the authorities executed 85 operations and six raids in different locations identified as strategic for the investigations. The actions allowed for the neutralization of 12 cases related to the alleged sale and distribution of controlled substances.

Among the evidence seized are 732 portions of a white powder, presumably cocaine, with an approximate weight of 3,291 grams. Also confiscated were 100 wrappings of a vegetable substance presumed to be marijuana, with a weight close to 1,100 grams.
Likewise, the agents seized 356 doses of a rocky material, presumably crack, in addition to four scales, a communication radio, and RD$2,060 in cash, among other evidence that will be incorporated into the investigations.

The operations were carried out simultaneously in different communities and sectors of the area, including Los Barrancones, Savica, El Tamarindo, Las Flores, La Guáyiga, Los Americanos, La Unión, Pueblo Nuevo, El Chucho, La Piña, Los Humildes, Pantoja, El Paraíso, Los Cocos and Los Lebrones.
Detainees by DNCD remain under the control of the Public Ministry
The five people detained during the interventions were transferred and handed over to the Public Ministry, the agency that must continue with the procedures established by Dominican legislation.
Meanwhile, the seized substances were sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) to perform the corresponding analyses and scientifically determine their composition and weight.

The authorities explained that the actions are part of the coordinated operations carried out by security agencies to confront structures dedicated to the distribution and commercialization of illicit substances.
The DNCD and the Public Ministry maintain these types of interventions in different sectors of the country, with the objective of identifying distribution points, dismantling networks linked to drug trafficking, and bringing those involved to justice.
The authorities reiterated that the operations will continue as part of the strategies aimed at strengthening citizen security and combating the trafficking of controlled substances in the communities.
