Brussels.- Emperor Naruhito of Japan and his wife Masako arrived in Belgium this Saturday, after spending a few days in the Netherlands, in the first official visit by the Japanese monarchy to the country in 27 years.
n” “nBoth were received by Princess Elisabeth, heir to the Belgian throne, at the Melsbroek military airport, according to local media reports.
n” “nThe visit coincides with the 160th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Belgium and will extend until next Thursday.

The official agenda of the emperors does not begin until Monday, so today they will be accompanied to the Palace of Ciergnon, in the province of Namur, to enjoy nature until then.
On Monday they will travel to Laeken, where the official residence of the Belgian monarchs is located, and on Tuesday they will begin a visit through Brussels where they will meet with local authorities at the Grand-Place followed by meetings with political leaders such as the Belgian Prime Minister, Bart De Wever, and members of Parliament.
n” “nOn Wednesday, the emperors will attend a presentation on the hydrological history of Namur and will then head to Leuven to visit the Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre (IMEC), where around a hundred Japanese researchers work, Belgian media detailed.
