Berlin.- The Berlin Public Prosecutor’s Office has filed charges before the Regional Court against a man for allegedly sedating and raping at least 14 women and recording it on video, although in the course of the investigation, alleged crimes against a total of 58 were identified.
Specifically, the Public Prosecutor’s Office charges him with 22 counts of rape under especially aggravating circumstances, accompanied by serious bodily harm, as well as violation of the right to one’s own image in all cases.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the 68-year-old man, who has been in pretrial detention since last March 3rd, would sedate his victims, whom he had met through online dating platforms, with various sleeping pills combined with alcohol and subsequently rape them.
During the interrogation, the women stated that they did not remember the alleged events, of which they had no knowledge until they were shown the videos of the crimes.
The police in Verden an der Aller, in the federal state of Lower Saxony (eastern Germany), who at the beginning of 2025 had initiated proceedings against a man, now deceased, for similar accusations, put the Berlin Public Prosecutor’s Office on the trail of the accused.
Upon analyzing the man’s chat messages, the police discovered that the Berliner was one of his interlocutors, as a result of which, at the beginning of March 2025, proceedings were also initiated against the now-accused.
In March 2025, the Berlin defendant’s home was searched for pornographic material, in the absence of evidence of more serious crimes, and it was not until almost a year later, in February 2026, that a forensic expert found numerous videos of sexual offenses on a seized data carrier, allegedly committed by the man, which led to a new search of the home and his arrest on March 3rd.
Of the total of 58 alleged victims, ten have not yet been identified, and in the case of another thirty, the investigation is still ongoing. In three cases, to date, no sufficient evidence of a crime has been found.
In the case of a woman who was allegedly raped on 36 occasions between 2010 and 2014 by the defendant, the Public Prosecutor’s Office has been forced to archive the case as the statute of limitations had expired by the time the facts became known.
Unlike other cases, in the videos of these events it was not possible to unequivocally determine whether sedative substances were administered to the victim, which would be considered an act of violence that would extend the statute of limitations for the crime to 20 years, compared to five years if there is no use of force.
In addition to the conviction of the defendant, who has not yet commented on the facts, the Prosecutor’s Office requests that a preventive detention order be issued following the completion of a prison sentence.
