Her role was key in the early stages of her children’s careers. Ben Affleck got his first roles thanks to his mother’s friendship with casting director Patty Collins.

In addition, she accompanied Ben to the 1995 Oscars ceremony, when the actor won the award for Best Original Screenplay for ‘Good Will Hunting’ alongside Matt Damon.

“We were sitting next to our moms and we won, and we hugged them. I remember how everyone made such a big deal out of it, as if it were something unusual,” Ben recalled in a 2023 interview with Vanity Fair.
