Madrid.– Journalist and panelist Marta Gómez Montero returned to RTVE this Monday following the controversy that arose last week during a live broadcast, performing a gesture of reconciliation alongside presenter Jesús Cintora, with whom she shook hands at the end of the interview.
During his speech, Gómez Montero assured that he is facing this new stage with peace of mind and thanked the support received from both the president of RTVE, José Pablo López, and his colleagues.
“I am calm, comforted by the attitude of the corporation’s president, José Pablo López, yours, and above all doing what I have been doing for the last 38 years: working from the respect that we owe each other,” she expressed.
The communicator also wanted to send a message to the audience, acknowledging that the incident occurred in a moment of tension and appealing for understanding.

“We are human, there are days when you have impulses. I am here simply to try to inform or debate, owing everything to them, to the audience,” he stated.
Gómez Montero explained that she had already been invited to participate in the program since the previous week and denied that her presence was a strategy to attract viewers.
“There is nothing we have prepared to captivate the audience. It was called since last week and I am doing the only thing I have done in my life: work,” he stated.

Likewise, he denied the versions that have circulated on social media regarding what happened and assured that false information has been spread.
“There are hoaxes, there are false accusations, and a lot of stories. What we have here is what we have. I don’t insult, I don’t shout, and I don’t hit anyone. What happened was a gesture in a moment of tension, in a scrum, and that’s it,” he maintained.
For his part, Jesús Cintora highlighted the continuity of the journalistic work and recalled that both have shared numerous years in the profession. At the end of the conversation, the presenter invited Gómez Montero to shake hands.
“As we were saying yesterday, let’s get to work and try to give our best to those who are the important ones. The important thing is not me, the important thing is the audience that is watching us,” stated Cintora before the gesture of reconciliation.
