Washington.- The President of the United States, Donald Trump, warned Iran that it will suffer “a very hard blow” if it withdraws again from negotiations to reach an agreement that prevents Tehran from developing nuclear weapons, in an interview with the Fox News network from his golf course in Los Angeles.
“If they back down again, they are going to suffer a very hard blow. They know it; they understand it. I have no other choice. They cannot have a nuclear weapon. It is very simple,” stated Trump, who in recent days has escalated his warnings against Iran while asserting that there are ongoing talks to reach an agreement.

The US president stated on Monday that contacts with Tehran represent the “last opportunity” for Iran to sign a “good” agreement, although Iranian diplomatic sources denied that there are direct negotiations with Washington and pointed out that current contacts are focused with Oman on security guarantees for transit through the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump has insisted that the main goal of any agreement is the “denuclearization” of Iran and has warned that the United States will not allow the country to obtain a nuclear weapon.
Although both parties signed a memorandum of understanding on June 17 to end the war and open a two-month peace process, cross-attacks resumed, which led Tehran to declare the strategic Strait of Hormuz closed and Trump to order the reimposition of a naval blockade on Iran’s coasts.
