Pittsburgh. – The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-6 on Thursday night at PNC Park, although the victory was accompanied by concern following the early exit of their main star, Shohei Ohtani, due to physical discomfort.
The Japanese player left the game in the seventh inning after experiencing swelling in his left knee, a situation that raised alarms within the Los Angeles organization. However, manager Dave Roberts explained that the decision was made as a precautionary measure and that, for the moment, the player has not been ruled out for the team’s next game.
According to Roberts, Ohtani felt discomfort in the area between his left knee and hamstring after attempting to steal a base during a play that ended in a foul.
Ohtani continues to shine with the bat
Before leaving the game, Ohtani had an outstanding offensive performance. The star player hit a solo home run in the third inning off Mitch Keller to open the scoring and reached base in all four of his plate appearances thanks to a single and two walks received.
With his performance, the Japanese player raised his season home run total to 13. In 67 games, he presents a solid offensive line of .305 average, .421 on-base percentage, and .543 slugging, in addition to six stolen bases.
His impact has also been felt from the mound, where he has a 6-2 record and a 1.06 ERA in 11 starts during the campaign.

Another injury worries Los Angeles
The Dodgers also lost left-handed pitcher Justin Wrobleski during the game, who suffered a right hamstring contusion after a scary collision at first base with Pittsburgh outfielder Bryan Reynolds.
The play occurred when Reynolds connected on a hit that struck Wrobleski before heading toward Freddie Freeman. The pitcher ran to cover first base and collided with the runner while receiving the throw.
After being attended to by the medical staff, Wrobleski left the game and was replaced by relief pitcher Will Klein.
The left-hander worked 4.2 innings, allowed four runs, six hits and issued two walks, in addition to recording one strikeout.
Dodgers respond offensively
The Los Angeles offense once again showed depth to support their pitching staff. In addition to Ohtani, Cuban Andy Pagés contributed two hits, one RBI, and one run scored.
Kyle Tucker was also decisive by hitting a two-run single that helped the Dodgers secure the victory and maintain control of the game against Pittsburgh.
