Minister of Sports: “This week will be crucial to conclude the works for the Games”

Santo Domingo.– The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kelvin Cruz, affirmed this Monday that the Government continues to meet the delivery schedule for the facilities for the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, highlighting the transformation experienced by the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.

During the inauguration of the two baseball stadiums at the sports complex, the official expressed that the Ministry of Sports is satisfied with the progress of the work and assured that the current week will be decisive for completing the projects that are still under construction.

“This is what it’s about, continuing to move forward, continuing to meet a work schedule, and writing the present,” he stated.

Cruz highlighted that the investment made by the Government has allowed for the modernization of sports facilities and attributed this effort to President Luis Abinader’s support for Dominican sports and youth.

“We cannot ignore the transformation that is felt in these facilities nor the multi-million dollar investment that has been made. We have to be grateful to President Luis Abinader, who has always had his eyes set on the youth and sports of the Dominican Republic,” he expressed.

The minister indicated that several facilities are already completed and are only awaiting their official handover, while final work continues at other sports venues.

Likewise, he highlighted that the country is preparing to welcome more than 6,000 athletes who will compete in more than 40 sports disciplines, making the Dominican Republic the main stage for regional sports during the celebration of the Games.
