Polish ultra-swimmer Bartłomiej Kubkowski has become the first person to complete a nonstop swim across the Baltic Sea from Sweden to Poland.
Kubkowski covered more than 160 kilometers in about 55 hours without sleep, rest or touching the support boat. The historic feat came after five attempts over several years.
The swimmer reached the beach in Dziwnów on Sunday, where he was welcomed by cheering crowds. He later revealed that he experienced hallucinations during the second day of the crossing due to exhaustion.
Kubkowski dedicated the achievement to children supported by the Cancer Fighters Foundation.
