The prominent Dominican writer Arelis Domínguez continues to establish herself as one of the most representative voices of contemporary Dominican literature on the international stage, proudly carrying the name of the Dominican Republic to new cultural venues and strengthening the bonds of friendship between peoples through literature.
With resounding success, various presentation events, discussions, and literary gatherings were held in the cities of Moscow and Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation, centered around the novel “Chiquita, I will always love you”, a work by the Dominican author that was recently translated into Russian, sparking notable interest among academics, students, writers, and literature lovers.
The translation of this successful novel was carried out by the Moscow State Linguistic University, constituting an important contribution to the cultural exchange between the Dominican Republic and the Russian Federation. This initiative was made possible thanks to the vision, commitment, and efforts of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Dominican Republic to the Russian Federation, Alejandro Arias Zarzuela, who from the very first moment showed a firm interest in promoting Dominican literature and bringing the works of national authors closer to the Russian public.
Writer Arelis Domínguez expressed her deepest gratitude to Ambassador Arias Zarzuela for his invaluable backing and his determined effort in favor of Dominican cultural diplomacy. His support has allowed a work born in Dominican lands to transcend borders and languages, becoming a bridge of understanding, sensitivity, and closeness between both nations.
“Chiquita, I will always love you” not only represents an outstanding contribution to contemporary Dominican narrative, but also symbolizes the universal power of literature to unite cultures, promote dialogue, and strengthen the bonds of friendship between peoples.
The successful reception of the work in Russia reaffirms the growing international interest in Dominican literature and constitutes a source of pride for the Dominican Republic, which continues to project its cultural and literary richness beyond its borders. Likewise, this significant achievement evidences the value of cultural cooperation between both nations and the fundamental role that diplomatic initiatives play in the promotion of art, education, and culture.
With this new international recognition, Arelis Domínguez reaffirms her commitment to literary creation and continues to consolidate a trajectory that elevates Dominican talent on the most diverse stages of the world.
