Santo Domingo. – In a ceremony filled with solemnity and military tradition, President Luis Abinader, in his capacity as the supreme authority of the Armed Forces and the National Police, led this Friday the graduation ceremony of the 64th Promotion of Cadets “Félix María Ruiz”, from the Military Academy “Batalla de Las Carreras”. The event, which marks the culmination of the training of the new Army officers for the 2022-2025 period, began with the honors of style to the president and the transfer of command of the Flag Guard, following strict military protocol. The Academy director, Brigadier General Raúl Esteban Mora Hernández (ERD), was in charge of the keynote speech, where he urged the graduates to uphold the highest values of the armed institution. He also highlighted the president’s support for the modernization of the armed forces. “In your hands rests the future of the Dominican Republic. Uphold the values that have been instilled in you,” Mora Hernández expressed.

Recognitions and promotions

During the ceremony, 50 new second lieutenants and infantry officers received their diplomas accrediting them as graduates in Military Sciences and Infantry Officers. Special distinction was given to the cadets who graduated with the honors of Honor Graduate, Kleiner Omar Sosa, and Distinguished Graduate, Carolina Silvana Pérez. In addition, recognition plaques were awarded in various categories that reward military virtues, such as application, good conduct, sense of duty, military spirit, physical excellence, and leadership. A crucial moment of the act was the reading of the General Promotion Order and the subsequent imposition of the rank insignia of second lieutenant, followed by the solemn Oath of Allegiance, led by President Abinader, where the new officers swore allegiance to the Constitution and the laws of the Republic.

Command and Closing Symbols

As a symbol of their new rank and authority, the graduates received their graduation rings and, from the hands of the President of the Republic himself, their command sabers, an iconic element of the officer corps.

The ceremony concluded with the emotional performance of the academy’s anthem by the graduates, ending their time as cadets. Subsequently, President Abinader participated in the official photo with the brand new “Félix María Ruiz” promotion. With this new promotion, the Armed Forces of the Dominican Republic are reinforced with officers trained under the highest standards of discipline, ethics, and professional preparation. Present were the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General of the Army, Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre; the Minister of Interior and Police, Faride Raful; the General Commander of the Army, Major General Jorge Iván Camino Pérez; the Director of the National Police, Major General Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta, and the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Franklin García Fermín, among others.
