Washington.- About 140 U.S. military personnel have been injured, eight seriously, by the Iranian attacks launched in response to the U.S. and Israeli offensive against the Islamic Republic, the Pentagon reported Tuesday.
According to a statement from the U.S. War Department, “the vast majority” have minor injuries and 108 of them “have already returned to duty.”
Eight other soldiers have been classified as “seriously injured”, so they are receiving the “highest level of medical assistance”, the note adds.
Seven U.S. military personnel killed in the Iran war
During the conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran, at least seven U.S. military personnel have died in Iranian attacks, the first six during a drone attack in Kuwait.
The United States Central Command announced on Sunday that another soldier died in that country “in a health incident” during a “medical emergency” on March 6, although it has not revealed whether this death occurred in combat actions.
The American president, Donald Trump, led the ceremony last Saturday for the transfer of the first six bodies and promised to “keep to a minimum” the deaths of his soldiers, although he warned that there are always casualties in war.
For its part, Iran has stated before the UN that some 1,332 Iranian civilians have died in the war. In addition, Israel assassinated on February 28, on the first day of the offensive, the supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and a large part of its military leadership.
