The event will boost investment, innovation, quality, and economic development, strengthening the positioning of the Dominican Republic as a regional benchmark in health and wellness tourism.

Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Association of Health Tourism (ADTS) and AF Strategic Communication announced the celebration of the 8th International Health and Wellness Tourism Congress, which will take place on June 9 and 10, 2027, at the JW Marriott Hotel Santo Domingo, consolidating itself as the main industry gathering in Central America and the Caribbean.

The congress will bring together national and international leaders from the health, tourism, investment, finance, insurance, technology, and wellness sectors, with the purpose of promoting strategic alliances, attracting investments, fostering the creation of high-value-added jobs, accelerating the transfer of technology and knowledge, and strengthening the Dominican Republic as a leading international tourist and medical destination.

Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, president of the ADTS, and Amelia Reyes Mora, vice president of the association and president of AF Comunicación Estratégica, highlighted that the congress has established itself as the main regional platform for multisectoral integration, knowledge exchange, high-level networking, and the development of investment and business opportunities.

“Health tourism represents a strategic opportunity to diversify the economy, attract investment, and strengthen the country’s competitiveness. This congress connects leaders and organizations to turn those opportunities into projects that contribute to consolidating the Dominican Republic as a world-class medical and tourism destination,” stated Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso.

For her part, Amelia Reyes Mora highlighted the value of the congress as a space for articulation between the sectors that influence the development of this industry. “We bring together those who have the capacity to generate synergies, develop projects, and create new business opportunities. We seek to foster valuable connections that contribute to the growth of the sector and the country’s international projection,” she stated.

During the activity, international experts, entrepreneurs, investors, government authorities, and decision-makers will analyze the main trends that are transforming health and wellness tourism, including artificial intelligence, digital transformation, precision medicine, international accreditations, sustainability, patient experience, and new models of investment and collaboration.

The event will also promote public-private synergies, innovative projects, and initiatives aimed at the sustainable development of the health, tourism, and wellness sectors.
The previous edition brought together more than 40 international speakers, representatives from 12 countries, 48 sponsors and allied entities, and 11 media outlets, reflecting the growing international reach and multisectoral nature of the event.

The 2027 program will include keynote speeches, panel discussions, presentations of studies and strategic initiatives, networking spaces, and business meetings aimed at strengthening the health and wellness tourism ecosystem.

Participation is expected from leaders of hospitals, clinics, specialized centers, hotels, insurance companies, financial entities, investment funds, airlines, pharmaceutical companies, medical technology providers, universities, international organizations, and government representatives.

The organizers highlighted that health tourism contributes to raising quality and safety standards for services, promoting international certifications and accreditations, incorporating cutting-edge technologies, strengthening human talent, promoting the transfer of knowledge and best practices, and attracting new investments that benefit both the sector and national and international patients.

In addition to generating foreign currency and boosting multiple sectors of the economy, this industry contributes to the creation of specialized jobs, stimulates innovation, and strengthens the competitiveness of the Dominican Republic as a safe, reliable, and excellent tourist and medical destination.
