Madrid.- The recent total solar eclipse still leaves its images fresh in the retina when people are already thinking about the one that will arrive in twelve months, which scientists consider the eclipse of the century due to its unusual duration, and which will also be visible in Spain, just like the annular one that will arrive in January 2028.
In August, specifically on the 2nd, but in 2027, the Moon will once again completely cover the Sun, and its longest totality phase, which will be seen in Egypt, will last 6 minutes and 23 seconds, making it one of the eclipses total longest of the century, according to data from the National Geographic Institute (IGN).
The phenomenon will begin in the Atlantic Ocean, after which it will cross the Strait of Gibraltar, follow the North African coast until it enters Egypt, cross the Red Sea and some regions of Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and the extreme northeast of Somalia, to end in the Indian Ocean.
In Europe, the totality will only be observable from southern Spain, while the partiality zone will cover practically the entire continent, a large part of Africa, and Southwest Asia, including the entire Middle East.
2027, Spain once again the protagonist
Spain will once again be one of the best places to enjoy this astronomical event, although on this occasion you will have to travel south if you want to see the totality phase, as it will be partial in the rest of the country.
The coast of Cadiz, Malaga, Granada and Almeria, as well as the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla, will experience total darkness that in some places will last more than four minutes, compared to the one that just passed, which did not exceed two.

From its beginning until it ends in the Indian Ocean, at 14:43 Spanish peninsular time, a total of 313 minutes will have passed. The locations of centrality in Egypt will be the best in the world to observe this eclipse, adds the IGN.
2028 begins with a ring of fire
And after two total eclipses, the year 2028 will begin with another annular one, which will occur on January 26, crossing the peninsula from southwest to northwest and the Balearic Islands, almost at dusk with the Sun very low on the horizon and an annularity phase of more than seven minutes, notes the Trío de Eclipses website.
In an annular eclipse, the Moon does not completely cover the solar disk, but an intense ring of fire forms around the silhouette of our satellite.
The path of annularity will pass through, among other places, Huelva, Badajoz, Seville, Cadiz, Malaga, Cordoba, Granada, Jaen, Ciudad Real, the Community of Madrid, Toledo, Cuenca, Albacete, Teruel, Murcia, the Valencian Community, and will end in the Balearic Islands and southern Catalonia.
