Santo Domingo.- Miss Dominican Republic Universe 2023, Andreína Martínez, broke her silence regarding the controversy she has with the national director of the pageant, Magalis Febles, and stated that she is tired of her participation in the contest and the events that occurred during 2023 being narrated from a single perspective.
Through a video posted on her TikTok account, Martínez explained that she decided to speak out after Febles made a comment related to a video that the former beauty queen had published talking about the medical and aesthetic procedures she has undergone.
“I am tired of the only narrative that is always heard about my life and my participation in the same universe, which was in 2023, being one-sided,” she expressed.
Martínez acknowledged that Febles was the one who introduced her to the doctor she referred to in her post, but denied that this fact implies a personal relationship of friendship or an obligation to “pay homage to him”.
“Being Miss Dominican Republic is a job. I didn’t go to be adopted, I didn’t go to be friends with the director,” she stated.
The 28-year-old former queen also defended the commitment she made during her reign and asserted that she remained in the Dominican Republic to continue working with the organization, even though she subsequently lost her job in the United States, where she resides. “Do not call me ungrateful when you do not know my story and know what I went through to be in the organization”, she commented.
Martínez stated that she considers it unfair to be labeled as ungrateful without knowing the circumstances surrounding her time in the pageant.

“You don’t know my story,” he reiterated.
Likewise, she maintained that her intention from the beginning was to generate a change in the national pageant and highlighted the results she achieved during her career, including her participation in Miss Universe.
“I said: I want to be the first Andreína Martínez. And I believe I fulfilled my mission. I said: I want there to be a before and after in Miss Dominican Republic Universe,” she pointed out.
Asks to leave controversies behind
The former queen also lamented that news related to the Dominican Republic in the field of beauty pageants ends up focusing on controversies and not on the work of the candidates.
“I am very embarrassed that when my Dominican Republic is talked about, it is not about the girls, the work, or the fact that we have qualified, but rather about all the controversy that always comes up with the director,” she expressed.

The model asserted that there are no pending issues with Febles and recalled that they both had a meeting in which, according to her version, any differences could have been discussed.
“If there had been any pending issues, they would have been discussed in the meeting with my lawyers, but nothing was discussed there because there were none,” he stated.
Martínez concluded his message by reiterating that he has chosen to maintain a prudent stance to protect his image and his future projects: “I do know how to distill poison and I know how to do it quite well, but for the sake of my image and for what I am doing, want to do, and will continue to do, it is not convenient for me”.
