Invoke Article 156 of Law 63-17 to protect the lives of cyclists and pedestrians.
The councilman for District No. 1, Wilkin Martínez, requested this Monday that Digesett reinforce enforcement against motorcycles circulating on the bike lanes of the Malecón and Bolívar Avenue.
Martínez explained that these spaces were created to promote sustainable mobility and cyclist safety, but they are invaded daily by motor vehicles, violating article 156 of Mobility Law 63-17.
“A bike path is not a road for motors. It is a living space. We cannot allow recklessness to take away the safety of those who ride bicycles or run on the Malecón,” he expressed.

The councilman requested permanent operations and the application of sanctions, including to military personnel who violate this regulation, as well as improving signage so that drivers respect these exclusive lanes.
“Taking care of bike lanes is taking care of lives. It is time to enforce the law,” he concluded.
