Dajabón.– The border province will be the setting for a commemorative edition of the DAJAPÓN Fest 2026, an event that will mark the 70th anniversary of the arrival of the first Japanese immigrants to the Dominican Republic and will highlight the legacy that this community has left on the country’s development.
The activity will take place on August 1st and 2nd at the Japanese Colony Park in La Vigía, where a program dedicated to highlighting the historical, cultural, and social ties between Japan and the Dominican Republic will be held.
As part of this special edition, the festival will bring together for the first time representatives from the main Japanese colonies established in Dominican territory, including those of Jarabacoa, Constanza, La Altagracia, Aguas Negras, Neiba, Duvergé, and the Manzanillo Fishing Colony.

The organizers noted that the meeting also seeks to bring Japanese culture closer to the Dominican public through activities that promote cultural exchange and strengthen the bonds of friendship between both nations.
