The singer Arcángel was recognized on Thursday night for his 20-year career during the edition number 38 of Premio Lo Nuestro, where he received a special tribute as Icon 2026. As he walked the magenta carpet, the artist focused his words on the personal meaning that this recognition has for him, assuring that every sacrifice made throughout his career “was worth it.”
“It was worth all the sacrifice, because nothing is easy in this life and what comes easy, goes easy. Today we are celebrating 20 years of career with a lot of effort, with a lot of sweat, dedication and discipline,” expressed the interpreter, visibly moved upon receiving the distinction that honors his legacy within urban music.
The artist highlighted that building “a permanent place within the books of urban music entails many sacrifices,” referring to the personal price he has paid to remain current for two decades. In that sense, he confessed that the most difficult thing has been giving up quality time with his family and loved ones.
“The quality time I sacrificed with my loved ones to build a legacy… when you look back, you say: damn, it was worth it, but there was a very high price to pay,” he stated, emphasizing that those absences have been the biggest challenge in his career.
In a more intimate reflection, he spoke not as a public figure, but as Austin Santos, first thanking God and his mother for being fundamental pillars in his life. “I feel good, grateful to God for the talent, for life and for the mother who gave birth to me, Doña Carmen; that is the true wonder,” he stated.
Arcángel also took the opportunity to thank the constant support of the Dominican public, which he described as an essential part of his history. “I have felt the love of the Dominican people all my life,” he said,
reaffirming that this recognition not only celebrates an artistic career, but the bond built with his people over 20 years.
