ITLA delivers first certification in Artificial Intelligence to the high command of the National Police

Santo Domingo. – The Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA) delivered the first certification in Artificial Intelligence aimed at the high command of the National Police, an event that marks a milestone for both institutions and strengthens the institutional modernization process through the incorporation of emerging technologies.

The training, titled “Artificial Intelligence Applied to Police Sciences,” was conducted over five weeks and allowed general officers to acquire specialized knowledge on the strategic use of artificial intelligence to strengthen police management, optimize operational and investigative processes, and improve data-driven decision-making.

The certificate delivery ceremony was led by the ITLA rector, engineer Jimmy Rosario Bernard, and the General Director of the National Police, Major General Andrés Modesto Cruz Cruz, who highlighted the importance of incorporating technological and innovative tools to respond more efficiently to the challenges of citizen security.

During his speech, the ITLA rector highlighted that this certification represents a transcendental step in the institutional mission to promote specialized technological training and contribute to strengthening the capabilities of State institutions.

“Artificial intelligence represents a key tool to strengthen analytical capacity and decision-making in institutions. At ITLA, we are proud to contribute to the preparation of the National Police high command with specialized training that incorporates knowledge and skills to promote more efficient, strategic, and innovative management, leveraging the potential of science and technology,” stated Rector Jimmy Rosario Bernard.

During the training program, participants delved into the use of artificial intelligence tools for information analysis and processing, decision-making support, optimization of operational and investigative processes, predictive analysis, task automation, and the leveraging of emerging technologies applied to crime prevention and prosecution.

For his part, the Director General of the National Police, Major General Andrés Modesto Cruz Cruz, valued the importance of this training as part of the strengthening of institutional capacities and urged the officers to put the acquired knowledge into practice to continue promoting a more modern, efficient, and innovative police management.

“Permanent updating is fundamental to continue strengthening our institutional capabilities. We trust that the knowledge acquired during this training will translate into better tools for the performance of our duties and into a National Police that is increasingly efficient, professional, and innovative in the service of the citizenry,” stated Major General Andrés Modesto Cruz Cruz.

This certification is part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA) and the National Police, through which both institutions develop training programs, specialized certifications, and innovation initiatives to strengthen the technological, operational, and academic capabilities of police personnel.

With this initiative, ITLA reaffirms its leadership as the country’s leading specialized technological education institution, contributing to the digital transformation of public institutions through the training of highly qualified human capital and promoting the responsible use of artificial intelligence as a tool for innovation, efficiency, and the strengthening of the services received by citizens.

The ITLA rector was accompanied by Juan Matos, Vice Rector of Extension and Social Outreach, and Fabricio Cabrera, academic advisor.
