Judicial Office recesses hearing for alleged embezzlement of RD$40 million in Barra Payán company

Santo Domingo. – The Judicial Office of Permanent Attention of the National District recessed for an hour, this Sunday, the hearing in which the request for a coercive measure against Marcos Antonio Frías García, Juan Ismael Frías García and Dagoberto Cabrera, administrators of the company Barra Payán, who are linked to an alleged embezzlement of RD$40 million to the detriment of their partners. According to the investigation presented by the Public Ministry, the accused, responsible for the administration of the business, would have irregularly withheld part of the income generated by sales for several years, without depositing it in the company’s official accounts.

The alleged irregularities came to light after a financial audit was carried out, which revealed millionaire differences between the amounts invoiced for sales and the figures formally reported by the administration. The prosecuting body maintains that these actions constitute a breach of the trust placed in the accused and requests the imposition of coercive measures in accordance with the seriousness of the alleged facts. The hearing will be resumed once the recess ordered by the court is over, at which time the knowledge of the request presented by the Public Prosecutor’s Office will continue.
