Málaga.- A 59-year-old man has been arrested by the National Police in Marbella following an alleged episode of gender-based violence in which the woman has died, according to police sources informed EFE.
The crime took place this Monday on Castilla Street, in the town center of San Pedro Alcántara, and the alert was received at 4:15 p.m.
Police sources have confirmed the arrest of the alleged perpetrator and have specified that although the investigation remains open, the woman has died in an alleged “episode of gender-based violence”.
The murder of this woman occurred a few days after the sexist crime of another woman was confirmed in Benahavís (Málaga) on July 21, which brought the number of women murdered by their partners and ex-partners so far this year to 36, the worst figure since 2019.
According to the statistics from the Ministry of Equality, Andalusia is the autonomous community with the most sexist murders in 2026.
