Mendoza road community members warn of a rise in criminal cases in the Juan Pablo Duarte park

Santo Domingo Este.- Residents of Mendoza road, in the surroundings of Juan Pablo Duarte park, expressed their concern about the rise in criminal acts that, according to them, have been recorded in the area. The residents also alerted about a supposed individual nicknamed “El Cojo”, identified as responsible for several robberies that have affected the sector. However, they clarified that they do not identify him as someone from the community, although they recognize that outsiders often take advantage to commit this type of criminal acts in the park.

Similarly, they explained that although the park is an open space and has police patrols, cases of muggings and robberies committed by individuals who are not from the area occur frequently. They claim that these criminals usually come from other neighborhoods and act quickly and subtly, which makes it difficult for residents to notice at the time. The community called on the authorities to reinforce security, especially at night, when the place becomes more vulnerable, with the aim of protecting the families and visitors who come to the space daily.
