San Pedro de Macorís.– President Luis Abinader and the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, delivered this Friday the renovated El Faro beach, located on the boardwalk of the main municipality of San Pedro de Macorís, with an investment of 67 million pesos.
The works included the recovery of 570 meters of beach, within an area of 12,398 square meters.
The project features new parking lots, road improvements, playgrounds, a volleyball court, lighting, green areas, benches, bollards, trash cans, and a booth for the Tourist Police (POLITUR).
Public bathrooms and a storm drainage system were also built to help prevent flooding. In addition, streets in nearby neighborhoods were paved, and sidewalks and curbs were constructed.
During the event, President Abinader stated that the recovery of El Faro beach will contribute to the growth of tourism in San Pedro de Macorís.

“This beach will be a great escape for national, local, and foreign tourism,” noted the head of state.
For his part, the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, assured that these types of projects have a direct impact on tourism development and the economic activity of the communities.

He said that the work is part of his plan to recover public spaces and waterfronts, with the goal that they be enjoyed by both tourists and residents of the communities.
Collado recalled that the Ministry of Tourism also allocated 267 million pesos for the intervention and recovery of the San Pedro de Macorís boardwalk.

The official pointed out that the renovation of El Faro beach was an old and legitimate demand of the residents of San Pedro de Macorís.
The work was carried out by the Executive Committee for Infrastructure in Tourist Zones (CEIZTUR). The project also includes an area for fishermen, with modules and sanitary facilities.
