It states that according to the planning of the Ministry of Public Works and the contractors, the work will be delivered in stages, with a first part scheduled for the end of this year and its total completion in the third quarter of next year.
Santo Domingo.– President Luis Abinader made a supervisory visit this Friday to the construction works of the Republic of Colombia avenue, a project of almost RD$12 billion that is being executed with funds from the Aerodom contract and includes the payment of expropriations as part of the Government’s efforts to improve mobility in the National District.
President Abinader toured the work accompanied by the Minister of Public Works and Communications, Eduardo Estrella, and stated that it is a large-scale intervention. He also specified that it corresponds to one of the areas with the highest traffic and congestion in the National District, therefore it seeks to improve mobility and the quality of life of its inhabitants.
He also informed that some returns have already been enabled on Republic of Colombia Avenue, in the direction of La Monumental, as part of the project’s progress.
He indicated that the works contemplate the construction of a bridge that will pass through the ravine and will connect with a tunnel, allowing a continuous route without traffic lights or stops, with a direct connection to the Jacobo Majluta, República de Colombia and Monumental avenues.

“We came to supervise, it is a very important work, it is one of the points of greatest transit and also of greatest congestion in the capital city and that is why we are making this effort to build it to improve the quality of life and transit of the inhabitants of the National District,” said Abinader.
During the tour, the president verified the progress of the different work fronts and received technical explanations about the project’s development from the Minister of Public Works and the engineers responsible for the work.
