Dajabón.– Following up on the health and livestock security controls on the northern border of the country, the Dominican Republic Army reported the detention of a truck in which twenty-two (22) cattle were being transported without the sanitation tags required by law.
The Mitsubishi vehicle, white in color, license plate L026888, was detained in the municipality of Restauración, when it was driven by Arami García Fernández, accompanied by his assistant, Estarlin Guzmán Rodríguez, who were transporting the cattle that were covered by a guide issued by the veterinary doctor of the municipality of Las Matas de Farfán, whose registered destination was the Santo Domingo Este slaughterhouse.
However, at the time of the intervention, it was found that the truck was traveling on the international highway towards Villa Los Almácigos, Santiago Rodríguez province, which led to the immediate detention of the driver and his companion, who were referred to the National Police detachment, with the case remaining under investigation.
The cattle, along with the vehicle, were delivered under certification to the representative of the General Directorate of Livestock.
The delivery was made in the presence of the municipal veterinarian of Loma de Cabrera, who certified the reception of the animals in accordance with the corresponding health protocols.
