Santo Domingo.– The Public Ministry Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, chaired by Deputy Sandro Sánchez, held a working meeting this Thursday in which it advanced the study of two legislative initiatives, including the Framework Law for the Comprehensive Reform “Let It Go” (Déjala Ir), a proposal that seeks to strengthen the State’s response to violence against women, boys, and girls.
During the day, the main components of the initiative were presented and debated, which proposes the creation of the National Strategy against Femicides and Filicides, as well as the National System for the Prevention, Prediction, and Protection against Violence, conceived to coordinate public policies for prevention, early detection, victim protection, and inter-institutional articulation.
The proposal also integrates a set of complementary legislative projects aimed at strengthening the national legal framework to prevent violence, provide greater protection to victims, improve mechanisms for the prosecution and punishment of aggressors, and strengthen prevention actions from communities and State institutions.

The meeting was attended by Senator María Mercedes Ortiz, representing the Senate of the Republic; the director of the Technical Office for Legislative Review of the Chamber of Deputies, Elpidio Bautista; and a commission of deputies led by Deputy Kinsberly Taveras Duarte, proponent of the Framework Law for the Comprehensive Reform “Déjala Ir” (Let It Go), who presented the foundations of the initiative and responded to the observations and questions raised by the members of the commission.

The participants agreed on the importance of continuing to build consensus around legislation that allows for strengthening the State’s capabilities to prevent violence, protect victims in a timely manner, and reduce the incidence of femicides and filicides in the Dominican Republic.
The “Déjala Ir” Comprehensive Reform constitutes a comprehensive legislative proposal that promotes an approach based on prevention, risk prediction, and effective protection, through the coordination of public institutions and the implementation of sustainable policies that contribute to saving lives and strengthening the security of Dominican families.
