Santo Domingo.- The president of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Danilo Medina, declared this Wednesday that this organization offers its “unwavering” support to the National Association of Agricultural Professionals (ANPA) in the vindictive struggle it is carrying out in search of concrete solutions for agricultural professionals and workers and the fall in national agricultural production.

We are with you (The National Association of Agricultural Professionals (ANPA). We support you in every sense of the word and have the moral standing to do so, because we fulfill all the commitments we made to the agricultural sector,” said Danilo Medina, according to a note from the PLD. The meeting between the ANPA directors and the PLD leadership is part of the consultation initiative that the agricultural professionals’ union is carrying out with the national political leadership, social, economic, and union sectors, according to the explanations offered by Tito Hernández, president of the ANPA. Tito Hernández presented a list of demands that includes the pension of more than 1,600 agricultural professionals, the review of files of another 600, the reinstatement of more than 350 agronomists dismissed for political reasons, the appointment of new technicians. They are also demanding the establishment of a decent minimum wage, a definitive solution to the situation of the technicians of the Dominican Agrarian Institute (IAD), the payment of arrears to Plant Health technicians and the inclusion of agronomists in housing plans and social programs of the Government, as well as control over the massive imports of food, which are well produced in the country. “This is a just fight, which should not stop and the PLD will support you in whatever is necessary until you obtain your conquests,” said Medina addressing the representatives of the agricultural sector.
