Santiago.– A large fire that occurred on Sunday night in the Rafey sector of Santiago reduced six homes, a mattress store, and a small shop to ashes, leaving several families and merchants in the open.

“We were left with nothing, only what we were wearing,” expressed some of the victims, visibly affected by the tragedy. The business owners also lamented the total destruction of their premises, assuring that the flames consumed years of effort and sacrifice. Despite the material losses, they were grateful that no fatalities were reported.
Families presume the fire was caused by a short circuit in one of the houses, which would have started the fire that quickly spread to the other structures built of zinc, wood, and cement.
Faced with the difficult situation, those affected made an urgent call to government authorities and sympathetic people to lend them a helping hand in this moment of need.
The fire, which was recorded after 9:00 p.m., generated panic among residents of the sector. According to the owners of the store and the mattress store, the material losses amount to several million pesos. The authorities are investigating the exact causes of the incident.
