Santo Domingo. – Around 800 families residing in communities located along the 6 de Noviembre highway will benefit from home improvement works as part of a new phase of the Urban Transformation Program (PRO-TU), promoted by the General Directorate of Strategic and Special Projects of the Presidency (Propeep).
The initiative contemplates the rehabilitation of homes and the recovery of community spaces, with the purpose of improving the living conditions of families in vulnerable situations.
The authorities reported that the technical and socioeconomic studies necessary for the execution of the project have already been carried out and that the corresponding procedures are currently being completed to begin the work.
The program is part of a government strategy aimed at intervening in communities with housing and urban needs, through actions that include roof repairs, structural improvements, beautification of surroundings, and the strengthening of community spaces.

According to the data provided, a first stage of the project is being developed in sectors of Santo Domingo Oeste, where dozens of families have already received improvements to their homes and the common areas of their communities.

In addition to physical interventions, PRO-TU incorporates training programs aimed at entrepreneurs and small business owners, with the goal of promoting economic inclusion and facilitating access to financing opportunities.
The authorities highlighted that thousands of people have benefited through training initiatives, social assistance, and support for micro-enterprises developed in different parts of the country.
Likewise, they indicated that the urban transformation model will continue to expand towards other communities in Greater Santo Domingo, including sectors located on the eastern bank of the Ozama River, where housing interventions and community recovery actions are also planned.
