Santo Domingo.– The possibility of replacing the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium with a modern facility with Major League standards has sparked mixed reactions among residents and merchants in the sectors surrounding the iconic baseball park.
During a tour conducted by an Último Minuto team in the vicinity of the stadium, several citizens expressed their points of view regarding a potential transformation of the historic sports infrastructure.
Among those who favor the initiative, the idea prevails that the country needs a more modern facility in line with the demands of international baseball.
“Of course I agree. That stadium is 74 years old,” stated one of those consulted, who considered that the construction of a new park would not affect the residents of the area.
Martín Cuentero expressed himself in similar terms, who positively valued the possibility of having a Major League-level facility and assured that he does not perceive any negative impacts for the sector.

However, other community members expressed concern regarding the potential changes the work could generate. Julio, a resident of the area, said he did not agree with the proposal and suggested that the project be developed elsewhere.
“I do not agree. That would affect the sector. Let them do it somewhere else,” he/she expressed.
