Mirabal Sisters.- The National Police arrested César Bolívar Uribe de Jesús, a resident of the municipality of Salcedo, Hermanas Mirabal province, who is identified as a member of a criminal network dedicated to the smuggling of firearms and ammunition from the United States to the Dominican Republic.

The institution said that the arrest of Uribe de Jesús took place in a residence in the Palmarito sector of the aforementioned demarcation, during a raid. In the operation, four pistols, six magazines, 179 9mm caliber cartridges, seven cell phones, three vehicles and 92,000 pesos in cash were seized.

According to the police report, the operation was carried out in coordination with the General Customs Directorate (DGA), the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI-New York) agency, which issued the alert about the operations of this transnational structure and the Santo Domingo Oeste Prosecutor’s Office. The detainee and the seized evidence are under the control of the Public Ministry for the corresponding legal purposes.
