Santo Domingo.– President Luis Abinader participated this Friday in the XI National Prayer Breakfast, an event organized by the Dominican Army of Prayer, where he shared an emotional message about the importance of faith, prayer, and unity of the Dominican people.
During the event, held at the El Embajador hotel, the president called for national unity, urging both the Government and the opposition to remain united in faith. “We are one country, one people and a people who believe in God. I ask you to continue praying for the good of the nation, of each family and of all Dominicans.”
We are a believing family
The ruler highlighted how prayer has been a constant source of strength for him, his family, and his administration. “I communicate with God daily, and in my house the five of us also do: Raquel, our three daughters —now adults— and I. We are a believing family,” he stated.
The Head of State called on the Dominican Prayer Army to remain active 24/7, praying for the well-being of the country. In that sense, he highlighted the transformative power of faith in difficult times, such as during the COVID-19 pandemic. “I remember when they told us that the economic recovery would take years. I told them: ‘We are going to recover quickly, because we are praying.’ And so it was,” he recounted.
Likewise, President Abinader mentioned how prayer has influenced even in critical climatic situations. “When we saw that a hurricane had a 90% probability of passing through the center of the island, I just said: ‘Let’s pray’. And it worked.”

During breakfast, messages of faith, hope, and reconciliation, hymns of praise, and prayers for the nation, its authorities, and the well-being of the Dominican people were offered.
