Santiago.- The citizen security expert and lawyer Juan Carlos Ortiz considered this Thursday that the criminal records of the five men killed by National Police agents during an alleged exchange of gunfire in the La Barranquita sector of this city should be investigated, in order to have a more complete view of the case. Ortiz pointed out that, after the event, multiple opinions have been generated for and against the police action, so he understands it is necessary to wait for the results of the investigations before issuing value judgments.

The jurist criticized that, immediately after the deaths, only the institution of order was held responsible, without taking into account the previous conduct of the deceased or the context in which the operation took place. “It is important that the country knows whether or not these people had a criminal record, in order to fully assess what happened,” Ortiz pointed out. The deaths of the five men, recorded last Wednesday, remain under investigation by the relevant authorities.
