Community members and representatives from dozens of neighborhood councils in the La Cuaba Municipal District denied this Saturday that a landfill is being built in that area, as claimed by sectors that, according to them, respond to particular interests financed by businessmen.
Social organizations stated that the project to be developed corresponds to a recycling plant, which they support because —according to environmental studies— it poses no risk to the community or the environment.

José de los Santos, president of the Hoja Ancha Neighborhood Council; Rey Alcántara, president of the Parents and Mothers Association of Los Jobo; Jenifer Piña, from Sabana Mina; among other community leaders, highlighted that the community
“wants progress” and that development must be allowed.
They indicated that the plant will generate
new job opportunities, especially for the young people in the area.
The community members reiterated that they trust the project will bring direct benefits to La Cuaba and asked not to be confused by information they described as
“malicious campaigns.”
