Santo Domingo.-After accepting the evidence presented by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, a court in Santo Domingo East sentenced two men to 20 and seven years in prison for the murder of another, in an event that occurred in 2024, in the Mira Flores sector of Sabana Perdida, Santo Domingo North.
Miguel Espejo Ramírez (Morenay and/or Monkena) was sentenced to 20 years in prison, while Víctor Nomar Medrano Urbáez (El Rubio) was sentenced to seven years in prison, for the participation of both in the murder of Yobani Sánchez Mejía.
The Public Ministry’s indictment, prepared by investigating prosecutor Dahiana E. Castillo, explains that on the afternoon of November 23, 2024, the victim was in the Miraflores sector of Sabana Perdida when the now-prosecuted individuals arrived at the scene on a motorcycle, from which Espejo Ramírez got off and, while shouting at him to return a cell phone, over which they had had an issue the previous day, stabbed Sánchez.

At the trial, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, represented by litigating prosecutor Ana Basora, presented the evidentiary elements that supported the criminal liability of the two convicted individuals, who violated articles 265, 266, 295, and 302 of the Dominican Penal Code, as well as articles 66 and 67 of Law 631-16, on the Control of Weapons, Ammunition, and Related Materials.
By decision of the judges of the Second Collegiate Court, Josefina Ubiera Guerrero, Ana Miledys Taveras, and Isaías R. Martínez P., the defendants must serve their sentence at the Correction and Rehabilitation Center (CCR) Las Parras, in the municipality of San Antonio de Guerra, in the province of Santo Domingo.
