Seven of those affected by the tourist bus accident that occurred last Sunday on the Autovía del Este remain admitted to health centers in La Romana, while another four are receiving medical attention in Santo Domingo.
This was reported by Governor Ivelisse Méndez, who detailed that four patients are recovering at the Central Romana Medical Center and three at the Municipal Hospital of Villa Hermosa. The others were transferred to the Marcelino Vélez Hospital, in the capital, where they remain under specialized care due to various injuries.

The accident occurred at the well-known
Curva del 10 de Cumayasa, when the bus lost control and rolled over several times. According to initial reports, the incident left two dead and 18 injured. The fatalities were identified as
Collen Fullerton, 67 years old, and Kym Lafantasie, 57, who were traveling with a group of approximately 20 tourists.
Preliminary information indicates that the vehicle may have skidded while traveling at high speed on that section of the road, which connects important tourist destinations in the country. The passengers had arrived in the Dominican Republic through Punta Cana International Airport and were heading to hotels in
Juan Dolio, Boca Chica and Santo Domingo.
After the accident, the injured were distributed to different medical centers, where they have received assistance coordinated by the provincial authorities. Méndez highlighted the rapid intervention of the rescue organizations and the proper handling of the belongings of those affected.
The official also indicated that the Canadian embassy activated the corresponding protocols for the repatriation of the bodies, and valued the response offered by local authorities in the face of the emergency.
Meanwhile, the bus driver, Juan Pablo Villar, an employee of the company Transporte Ismael, was injured and remains admitted to a clinic in La Romana. The authorities are keeping the investigations open to precisely establish the circumstances that caused the accident.
